    Here are a couple of songs I worked up for use in the classroom:

    The Alphabet Calypso         Short Vowel Rap         Many Many Cows

    Many Many Cows
    by Ruth Ingulsrud

    Purpose: to develop phonemic awareness and skills in rhyming and to have fun. Teacher pauses at the end of each verse to give the students a chance to fill in the name of a rhyming word that comes from cows.

    Chorus:
    Many many many many many many cows
    Many many many many many many cows
    Many many many many many many cows
    Many many many many many many cows

    Verse:
    Out on the hillside, dressed in silk
    It takes many cows to give us “B”
    Students:
    MILK!

    Chorus

    Out on the hillside, listen to them mutter
    It takes many cows to give us “B”
    Students:
    BUTTER!

    Chorus

    Out on the hillside, watch them dream
    It takes many cows to give us ice “B”
    Students:
    CREAM!
